Buddy was born around November 1986. He was a cocker, poodle and terrier mix. He was originally from the Binghamton, NY area. He lived with Karen Durfee since he was about six months old. We found each other on her doorstep in Binghamton on Memorial Day, 1987 after he was put out of his home from an abusive owner. In the Spring of 1988, Buddy graduated first in his Dog Obedience class. In January of 1989, we moved to the Ithaca area. Buddy's favorite activities were running, playing outside, playing with his squeeky toys, chasing his tennis ball, cuddling with humans, and eating. Buddy lived in the Ithaca area until he died on December 30th, 2003.
It is with great sadness that I write this to inform you of the passing of my dog, Buddy. Buddy died Tues, Dec 30th, 2003, after about 6 weeks of declining health. He will be cremated and I suspect that some of his ashes will be spread in the Cayuga Lake. He always enjoyed the lake, whether it was "rock fishing", floating on the raft, or just chilling on the boat.
Buddy blessed everyone who knew him with great joy, entertainment and unconditional love in the 17 years of this life. He even won the hearts of those who don't usually take to dogs. Every day of his life he was my best and loyal friend, right to the end. I feel blessed to have had such a wonderful gift in my life. He will be missed very much. My guess is that he was needed elsewhere. He was so amazing that he will probably come back as the next Dalai Lama. And there is no doubt in my mind he will forever be watching over his human and dog friends.
